Google Assistant will automatically change the password
Google, Apple and Microsoft are offering users the provision to login without a password. The announcement was made on May 5, World Password Day by three of the world's most popular tech giants. According to the companies, they are coming up with a way to login to their services without a password. Users are going to be exposed to this service very soon.
In the meantime, tech companies have started working on how to login without password from iOS, Windows, Chrome OS, Chrome Browser, Edge, Safari and MacOS. Various experiments are going on.
According to Android Police, this warning from Chrome and Android Assistant has reached a wider range. Users will now receive a password change warning message when using a compromised password when signing in to a site. There are opportunities to control it in different ways.
According to the technology site Engadget, the feature will not work on all web sites for the time being. Since the feature was introduced in Google I/O, last May. Currently only a few users will be able to use the feature. It will be further improved when fully operational.
"We are moving toward a password-less future," Srinivas wrote in a blog post on Google's PM Director of Secure Authentication. Which we have been mapping out for over a decade.
Basu Jakkal, corporate vice president of Microsoft's Department of Security, Compliance, Identity and Management, said companies like Microsoft, Apple and Google have moved a few steps toward a simple password-less sign-in standard.
If all goes well, Apple, Google and Microsoft will launch this password-less login system in 2023. Users can sign in to any account using Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator. Be it Gmail or Outlook.
Authenticator app means that this password-less authentication will work on Fido Standard.
